High Cuisine: A Quick Guide to Making Cannabutter

Are you looking to make yourself some ‘high’ cuisine? Well, you’ve probably come across cannabutter. But how does one actually go about making cannabutter?

Well, in this article we tell you exactly how to create your own cannabutter without using a cannabutter-making kit. It’s super easy!

What Is Cannabutter?

Cannabutter, as the name suggests, is a type of butter that is infused with cannabis. Basically, it uses actual butter, and then cannabis is added to it.

It is a great ingredient to use in making lots of different cannabis edibles like cakes, brownies, and even things like hummus!

Cannabis has two main ingredients: tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). The first of these gives you the ‘high’ effect. The second one mellows you out.

Ingredients for Making Cannabutter

There are only two ingredients you will need: regular butter (about one cup), and Ground cannabis (about one cup).

Cannabutter Preparation Process

Although the ingredients of cannabutter are fairly simple, the preparation method does require some steps. So, follow these exactly:

1. Decarboxylation

Do I need to decarboxylate before making cannabutter? Yes.

This is the first step of making cannabutter and one that people often jump over. The process of decarboxylation is critical to ensuring that your cannabutter gives you the right mental effect and also tastes good.

Note that if you are making cannabutter with concentrate or making cannabutter with kief you still need to go through this first step.

To decarboxylate your cannabis, you first need to grind it up. Next, set your oven to 225 F. Once the oven is ready, you can put your ground cannabis in the oven on a baking tray with some baking paper.

The cannabis will take around 40 minutes before it is ready to be used. Every five to ten minutes you should shake the tray around to ensure the ground cannabis is receiving heat evenly.

2. Melt Butter

Once the cannabis is ready, melt your butter in a saucer. Once melted, add the ground cannabis.

Slowly turn the cannabis in through the butter to create an even mixture. Now you should simmer the mixture for around two hours on very low heat.

3. Simmer

Now you need to let the butter mixture simmer for around 2 hours. This will extract the THC and CBD from the cannabis and infuse them in the butter.

4. Strain and Chill

Now take the butter and pour it through a sieve. Then, place the mixture in a container in the fridge.

In a few hours, you will have cannabutter!

Enjoy the Process!

When people are making cannabutter, they can often get impatient to arrive at the finished product. Of course, we all can’t wait to have some high cuisine in front of us.

But it’s important that you slow the process down and make sure you do it right for a better result. So, take your time, enjoy the process, and enjoy the result!
