Michelle L Marquez – Attributes of an Inspirational Person

I was very lucky to meet one of my closest friends whilst studying law at university and form the day that I first met her Michelle L Marquez and I became very good friends. Despite the fact that our careers went in different paths after university, she went to work in the securities commission and later in fraud prevention on the stock exchange whilst I went on to become a writer, we have always remained close. In fact Michelle L Marquez is one of the most inspirational people that I know or have had the good fortune to meet and I want to describe some of the attributes which I believe make her the person that she is.

Thick Skin

When Michelle began working on the stock exchange there were no women on the trading floor or overseeing arbitration hearings, and she was one of the very few. During those years she had to have very thick skin to get through those days at work, with all the innuendo and sexist comments leveled at her. She always knew that things would change however and her thick skin certainly pulled her through, she never took any of it to heart.

Dedication

Michelle wanted to follow in her Dad’s footsteps and work on the stock exchange and she knew this from the age of 10 years old. What is remarkable then is that she was able to stay focussed and dedicated enough to not be distracted and not wane from what she wanted to do. Not only did she stay dedicated and focused but she actually achieved what it was that she set out to, and not too many people can say that, especially about dreams which they have had since they were that young.

Ambition

Even during those tough early years working with the securities commission Michelle had dreams of going higher up the ladder and eventually occupying a position of power. Whilst most women in the industry were just focussing on getting through each day and keeping their jobs, Michelle was already plotting her path to the top.

Passion

I am very lucky to be doing a job that I enjoy and that is why it is easy for me to get up every morning and go to work with a smile on my face. This is something which Michelle has too because ever since she was young she has always had a passion for the stock exchange. Without this passion the rest of the attributes would mean nothing and it is absolutely crucial that you love what you do, at least for the most part anyway. Michelle’s passion has never wavered either and she loves her job as much today as she did on her very first day on Wall Street.
